HTC MAY SELL ITS SMARTPHONE DIVISION TO GOOGLE

Htc, Htc One, Htc One M8, Smartphone
Seriously HTC is struggling when it comes to holding a major market share and Google is looking to end their struggles. HTC's Vive Headset still sells better than a couple of their smartphone so I'm guessing HTC may want to focus more on virtual reality.

HTC has entered the final stage of negotiation with Google for selling its smartphone business unit.

There are two possible outcomes, it's either that Google is considering a strategic partnership or probably buying the smartphone business outright.

HTC's U11 is definitely one of the best smartphones of 2017 but sadly, they can’t sell enough to make anyvmoney. In a very competitive smartphone market dominated by only a few manufacturers,, HTC does not seem to be able to break back in after Android’s initial explosion. Selling off their smartphone business actually seems like the next logical next step.

Google wants more control over the production of its devices so I'm guessing buying HTC off might actually be a good idea. They're looking to compete with Apple and Samsung.
